The sound in a room is reflected by the walls, ceiling and floor. The materials these surfaces are made of, determine how much and in which direction sound will be reflected. Materials can reflect the sound, absorb it or diffuse it in many directions.
Specular reflections on hard surfaces often reduce speech intelligibility, musical quality and maximum attainable sound amplification. These reflections are controlled by absorption and/or diffusion.
Only using absorption will lead to “dead” sounding rooms with a lack of late reflections that significantly increase the acoustic performance of a room.
Sonogamma offers materials with a sound absorbing as well as a sound diffusing effect.
